Maritime: Bridges and Locks

Waterways can be interrupted by bridges and locks. This is common in the Netherlands due to the unique nature of our infrastructure and the fact that a large part of the country is below sea level.

Regular and direct contact between ships and control stations of bridges and locks is key for the exchange of essential information. MEP provides voice communication systems that connect traffic controllers and ships.

Because a smooth passage is key.

SCADA protocol

These systems integrate object control seamlessly with direct links to the communication system in accordance with the SCADA protocol. For the safe remote control of bridges and locks, MEP supplies intercom systems through which traffic controllers can give out instructions to road and water traffic.

This efficient system stimulates the flow on waterways, and smooth passage is crucial for the economy and for security. It also contributes to more efficient use of fuel and thus has a positive impact on the environment.
